Gender Equality

We believe true talent has no gender, we value and support our female engineers and managers. Based on 2022 data, 47 % of Waverley’s managers are men and 53 % are women. Half of our offices are led by women, as well as our Marketing, HR, and Accounting teams.

All of Waverley’s employees have the right to take maternity or paternity leave. Our compensations and bonuses are awarded based on skills and experience.

Educational Initiatives

Numerous lectures, workshops, courses, and tech talks, as well as a variety of leadership and mentorship programs are regularly presented by Waverley. With over 70% of Senior Engineers in-house and 20% of our team members holding Ph.Ds, our mentorship program is among the best in the world.

Training Reimbursement

The company is reimbursing 50% of team members’ training or certification costs. Anyone can apply, regardless of how long they have worked with our company. The only requirement is to conduct a knowledge-sharing session with Waverley teammates afterwards.

Open Tech Talks

At Waverley we conduct online events, where our team members share their experience on a technical topic. During a 1-hour online session, anyone on the team can be the speaker, even first-time presenters. Whether novice or experienced speaker, the Waverley Tech Talks forum gives our engineers an invaluable opportunity to get feedback on their presentation and field questions about their topic before bringing their ideas to a larger, external audience.

Guest Speaking

Waverley Engineers share their experience as speakers at JavaScript, Project Management, IoT and QA conferences internationally. A number of our engineers have founded and continue to support local IT communities; we also have several team members who teach engineering to local minorities. The company also contributes to developing the IT infrastructure in locations where we operate.

Mentorship & Engineering Culture

With our CTO Office, anyone in the company can make a difference. Our employees assist with the adoption of new technologies, shape our product portfolio, come up with pet projects, coach engineers with Junior or Mid-level of experience, etc. Our mentorship program spans beyond engineers, including our project managers and marketers as well.

Tech Breakfasts & Tech Waves

TechBreakfast and Tech Wave are Waverley’s proprietary educational & networking events for a wider audience, where our team members share their knowledge on a certain topic, be it engineering, design or management. In a friendly atmosphere, we facilitate tech-savvy discussions and promote engineering culture in the local communities.

Beyond Tech Talks

In addition to professional growth, we nurture personal growth and development. Non-Tech Talks are an opportunity for our team members to learn various personal skills–Emotional Intelligence, Self-Care, Financial Wisdom–inviting psychologists, lawyers, investment counselors, meditation instructors and other professionals to share their expertise.

Value Points System for Even More Opportunities

At Waverley we implemented the Value Points policy. We reward it when our team members go beyond their daily responsibilities to help Waverley grow, win new projects, and become a better company. To show our appreciation, and encourage contributions, we introduced Value Points (WVP).

Waverley Value Points (WVP) are our internal conventional units that measure how much value and benefit this or that activity adds to our operations and ultimately to Waverley’s success. Our employees can spend their value points in a special store, “buying” valuable and interesting branded stuff or training.

Charity & Fundraising

Waverley and our team are always involved in charity and fundraising activities that align with our core values and company principles, helping those who are in need no matter their gender, nationality, status, or condition. On a regular basis, we initiate charity events to help children, war refugees, pet shelters, and environmental activities.

Helping Children in Need

Since 2018 Waverley Ukraine has worked with The Deer of St. Nicholas – a charity organization that helps children in Ukrainian areas affected by the Russian invasion. In the past years, we donated funds, toys, sports and electronics equipment to children in orphanages and low-income families. Waverley Bolivia celebrates Children’s Day on the 12th of April to remind everyone how important our little ones are. Meanwhile, in Romania, the Waverley team celebrates Children’s Day on the 1st of June.

Supporting Animal Shelters

Over the years, Waverley team members have been donating to animal shelters. Donations are used to cover the costs of daily operations, supplies, staff training, animal housing upgrades, community outreach programs, animal enrichment, and much more.

Charitable Events

Matt Brown, CEO of Waverley Software, participated in the Charitybuzz Entrepreneur Auction, offering a coaching session in exchange for a charitable donation. All money raised by this donation was given to GameChanger, an organization leveraging technology to help children with life-threatening illnesses.

Open-Source Projects

Our engineers also donate their time to make the world a better place, taking part in hackathons to develop sustainable solutions, and participating in charitable open-source development projects.

Environment

We don’t have Planet B and it’s our task to take care of the one we all call home. In all our offices, we have a zero waste policy. All single-use plastic is banned in our offices; instead, we use reusable materials. In cooperation with cycling activists, NGOs, communities, and businesses, Waverley initiated the development of a location-based application to allow cyclists to track and navigate infrastructures in multiple cities.

Healthcare

Encouraging Sport Culture

Waverley has a strong community united by the love for running, kayaking, basketball, etc. We believe that sport helps us feel better and increases productivity. We support the spirit of our athletes by financing their participation in sports events along with sports events for charity.

Health Insurance

Providing safe work conditions and a healthy work environment are one of the main tasks for Waverley. Our team members in several locations enjoy the benefits of an annual Health Insurance program, as well as discounted insurance for their family members.

Work-Life Balance & Mental Health

Mental health of our team members is just as important as physical well-being. We educate and encourage our team to maintain work-life balance, warn about the dangers of burnout, invite professionals to speak about mental health during the pandemic and provide psychological support to Ukraine-based engineers affected by the war.

Promoting Healthy Nutrition

We often organize events and talk shows on “Health and Nutrition”, which focus on mental and physical health, especially during the pandemic. Clinical nutritionists are invited to discuss and address the staff’s questions on nutrition & health-related issues during lockdown.

Covid-19 Protection

Despite all the challenges of the Covid pandemic, Waverley continues to provide safe working conditions for all our team members. All of our teams moved to working from home for the duration of quarantine. We educated our personnel on the dangers of Covid and protection measures. Our offices became Covid-19 vaccination centers for our team members. We also contributed to local charitable initiatives, to supply more Covid testing resources to those who needed them.

Pet Projects with Social Impact

Besides delivering mission-critical software projects for our clients, our engineers like to sharpen their skills on a variety of pet projects, combining them with positive social impact on local communities. One of such projects is NaRover – a free cycling navigation app currently used by the cycling communities in multiple cities of Ukraine. Our goals for this project were:

To promote cycling as an eco-friendly means of transport
To educate local communities about the developed local infrastructure for cycling
To show that cycling navigation can be as convenient and easy as any other transportation

Waverley Stands with Ukraine

Since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014, Waverley firmly supports our Ukrainian team and stands with Ukraine. In addition to ensuring safety and job stability of our team members in Ukraine, we’re working in multiple directions to support the Ukrainian people:

Fundraising. We’ve established an internal volunteering community inside Waverley. Our fund receives over $50,000 in donations every quarter helping provide the necessary equipment and protective gear to the family members of our engineers who serve in the Army, as well as specific military brigades.
Raising awareness by sharing stories from our team members who had to leave their homes due to the full-scale invasion.
Volunteering. E.g. combining our team building events with weaving mask nets and making trench candles for the defenders of Ukraine.
